چکیده

the visual acuity dropped from 20/30 to 20/60 OS. Gonioscopy revealed a cyclodialysis cleft in the area of the surgical iridectomy. The retinal examination findings were noted to be normal by the glaucoma and retinal subspecialists. Stratus OCT showed retinal folding consistent with hypotony maculopathy (Figure 3A). The patient was given 1% atropine, and the IOP increased to 52 mm Hg with presumed closure of the cyclodialysis cleft. The use of glaucoma medications reduced the IOP to 16 mm Hg. After the glaucoma medication was tapered, the IOP stabilized in the 11to 13-mm Hg range. Best-corrected visual acuity improved to 20/30 OS with resolution of retinal folds on Stratus OCT (Figure 3B).

Hemiretinal Artery Occlusion in an 11-Year-Old Child with Dextrocardia

Purpose. To report a case of hemiretinal artery occlusion in a child with dextrocardia, visceral heterotaxia, and secondary polycythemia. Methods. Complete clinical examination, fundus photography, and retinal fluorescein angiography were performed. Laboratory testing included complete blood cell count, homocysteine, protein c, protein s, activated protein s, methyltetrahydrofolate and homocyst...

Does Intravenous Fluorescein Interfere With Clinical Laboratory Testing?

Blood and urine laboratory samples taken subsequent to administration of intravenous fluorescein may demonstrate false abnormal values, depending upon the sensitivity of different laboratory instruments, or patient variability. Fluorescein angiography is so widely used as a diagnostic tool in ophthalmology that we often fail to pause and consider its effects on the diagnosis of other medical co...

Fluorescein aldehyde with disulfide functionality as a fluorescence turn-on probe for cysteine and homocysteine in HEPES buffer.

We developed a fluorescein aldehyde probe with disulfide functionality for the fluorescence detection of biologically important thiols. The probe displayed highly selective responses to cysteine (Cys) and homocysteine (Hcy) over glutathione (GSH) due to the rapid ring formation reaction of Cys and Hcy with the aldehyde group of the probe and the concomitant cleavage of the disulfide group follo...
